Serene retreat cottage in a native Hawaiian forest, just 5 miles from Kailua Kona. Wake up with the song birds and a gorgeous tropical garden setting with orchids and tropical flowers everywhere. This retreat cottage is located in a gated three-acre property in an upscale Kona neighborhood. Private entrance and private parking. The retreat cottage is totally private from the street and from the main house. Cool Hawaiian cloud forest on Hualalai mountain at 2200' elevation. It is wonderful to come back to the cool mountain air after a day at the beach or in hot sun of Kailua-Kona, to a lovely cottage room surrounded by trees. (People really appreciate it!) Enjoy a leisurely morning cup of Kona coffee and look at the Atlas of Hawaii, Birds of Hawaii, Fish of Hawaii and other reference books and magazines. This is a local Hawaiian experience. You are away from the tourist condos and hotels, but centrally located to everything; snorkling, beaches, shopping, restaurants, movie theatres, hiking.

Feel free to explore all of the gardens, use the Buddhist Zen meditation hall and make yourself at home on the property. You will see many tropical flowers, orchids, and trees at this Hawaiian tree nursery. Five miles to beaches, Kailua town (restauraunts and shopping), and airport.

Fully furnished cottage with a living room, bedroom and kitchenette. It is spacious and very comfortable. The bedrooom has a queen bed, Brazilian cherry hardwood floors, desk, rocker reading chair, 5-disc CD player / radio, TV (for movies only), and full bathroom. The screened outdoor kitchenette has a lovely breakfast nook, and includes: refrigerator, 2 burner hot plate, toaster, rice cooker, coffee maker,french press, and all utensils. Your own barbeque and charcoals are outside for your use. Towels, linens, beach towels, beach chairs, and beach mats are provided. Snorkel goggles and cooler are also provided for your use. There is an ethernet wire for your fast hook-up to the internet. Clean and comfortable retreat cottage on sacred grounds. Massage services can be provided in your space.

There is a pond, Tree nursery and a Buddhist Zen meditation hall on the grounds. You may walk around the gardens, have lunch under the trees, and sit meditation any time you wish. Or ask about the private garden tour. Take time for a close look at a plant nursery in Hawaii. See the wondrous tropical plants that will make your heart smile. Have tea and chat about the Island, it's ecosystems and biota. You will enjoy it! We are a Green Business and take care to keep the retreat cottage very clean and beautiful. We do not use harsh chemicals. We do not charge an extra cleaning fee, it is included in the price. Check-in is 3pm, check-out is 11am- 12 noon. We are happy to accomodate you if you need to check out later if the retreat cottage is not booked.

Jan- Feb.: Lows at night 55 degrees F, Highs day time 75 degrees F
March- Dec.: Lows at night 65 degrees F, Highs day time 75 degrees F
The coldest months of the year are January and Feburary. Summer time is the rainy season, the dry season is in the winter.

No coqui frogs in this special upcountry Kona location!

A 25% deposit is required to book. The deposit is refundable up to 21 days before you arrive. Any cancelations after that are non-refundable.
